The company work van, sometimes known as "The Behemoth," at a transmitter site of one of America's great radio stations somewhere in Minnesota. The van is a GMC Savana All-Wheel-Drive, which gives good traction on hills and slippery spots in the winter.

An inside view of the van from the right sliding cargo door. Steel racks store parts along with a large 6-drawer stainless steel storage cabinet. Just what is needed for doing radio station repair. Click on the photo or here for a larger view.

Here is a photo of the passenger compartment of the service van. It shows the setup for making occupied bandwidth and RF harmonic measurements on AM radio stations. An IFR A-7550 Spectrum Analyzer is connected to a notebook computer for record keeping. A Chris Scott LP-3 loop antenna is used outside to pickup the signal. |

Some of the equipment cannot be easily repaired in the field. Instead, it is brought into the shop for maintenance and calibration to original factory specifications. The photo shows a Circuit Research Labs FM Stereo audio processing system that has been serviced and is ready to go back to a station. |
