From left to right are Technical Consultant Mark Persons, Station Owner Lou Buron, generator technician Al Hauser of Ziegler from Duluth, and Station Engineer Mark Anderson. The crew here was inspecting the newly installed 60 KW generator plant at the KBHP/KKZY transmitter site on November 2, 1999. The plant uses an eight cylinder truck engine. The generator plant ran beautifully. It is fueled by propane from a 1000 gallon tank. |

Mark Anderson is measuring to install a remote control interface on a Gates FM20H3 20 KW FM Transmitter. This was the KBHP transmitter. We upgraded it for the new KKZY 100 KW FM station on 95.5 MHz. This involved changing it's frequency from 101.1 MHz to 95.5 MHz. Upgrading and repairing the internal circuits was one of the aspects of the project as well. |

Here, a high voltage power transformer is being replaced in the transmitter. (l-r) Long time broadcaster Tom Lucas, station engineer Mark Anderson, and a friend of Mark's handle the 750 pound transformer. They used wooden dowels to roll the transformer crate across the floor and then slid the transformer from the crate platform into the high voltage power supply cabinet of the transmitter. This was an emergency repair on July 4, 1999. The transformer is made by Peter Dahl and just happened to be on hand for another project.
