This is a "before" photo of the KKIN-AM studio with an audio mixer designed for the music/sound reinforcement industry. The arrangement was not very compatible with broadcast operations. For starters, there was no monitor muting when the microphone was turned on. Operators had a difficult time mixing audio because of the large number of knobs to choose from. In addition, they had to operate switches on the box to the right to get the telephone on the air. |

Here is that same studio after it was retrofitted
with a good used Audio Arts broadcast audio console. A
Zercom ZH-2 Telephone Hybrid
is being used to handle the telephone and a
Zercom PS-2 Patch Switch
is used to switch this studio, the automation, or another studio to the
transmitter. Click on the photo or here to see a larger image. The rebuilt studio is extremely user friendly and functional. |
