Steve Twiselton is a
long-time friend. He loves to show the transmitters he is maintaining
or working on. The photo shows Jim WØIRE
and Steve at the far end of a Channel 41 analog (NTSC) television transmitter. Let's see now, a power amplifier runs 25 Kilovolts with 5.8 Amperes DC current. That is 145 Kilowatts input on each of the two power amplifiers. Total DC input power is 290 Kilowatts. Combined transmitter output power is 150 KW. Effective radiated power is 2.75 megawatts. |

The meters on the digital transmitter show 34 Kilovolts at 1.4 Amperes current. That is 47.6 Kilowatts input to just one of the two giant power amplifiers. Combined RF output is 65 Kilowatts. Effective radiated power is 1 Megawatt. |

Outside the transmitter building, Steve shows off just one of the two giant power supplies for the analog transmitter. Steve purchased a new 3-phase diode assembly from us for one of the power supplies to rebuild it. Actually, there are three power supplies with one as a standby for the other two. |
