Here is Mike Murrey at
the WJMC-FM McMartin BF-25K backup transmitter. He is showing off the
"bailing wire and chewing gum" repairs he did to get the transmitter
running. Mike is a great guy with a good sense of humor. Behind
him is a McMartin BA-1K backup transmitter to the WJMC-AM Harris Gates 1
main transmitter. Mike is one of our customers and we enjoy seeing him in person, at WJMC and WAQE Radio, at least once a year. |

This is a piece of 1-5/8" coaxial cable that has the outer conductor shorted to the inner connector. It all happened when an exceptionally high wind slammed an object into the cable some 50 feet up the WAQE-FM tower. The plastic jacket, on the cable, hardly showed it, but the transmitter would VSWR trip continuously until the short was discovered and repaired. |

Here is Mike Murrey again in front of the WAQE-FM transmitter. He is a happy guy after replacing the damaged coaxial cable. The WAQE-AM transmitter is behind Mike. It is a Harris Gates 5. |
