Mille Lacs Lake

The Concourse at Garrison, Minnesota.  This beautiful rest area was created in the 1930's with labor by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  It is on the west end of Lake Mille Lacs which is in east-central Minnesota.

The state fish is the Walleye which is known for it's excellent taste.  Walleyes are caught in abundance on Lake Mille Lacs.

Another view from Garrison. Note the seagull on the left and a fishing boat tied to a dock.  Minnesota is often referred to as the "Land of Sky Blue Water."
In Garrison, just on the west side of Highway 169, you will find the Lingwall Garage.  In business since the 1930's it is still in the family.  Tom and Darrold "Darry" Lingwall keep the place going helping customers with parts and light auto repair.

These guys are real people and as honest as the day is long.  Tom served as a soldier in the U. S. Army in Vietnam during the 1960's.  He returned home to civilian life and the family business.

This is Minnesota State Highway 18 on the north side of Lake Mille Lacs.  The trees, in summer, overhang the road and enhance the beauty.
From the east side of Lake Mille Lacs.  The sun reflects off the water on a July day.  Mille Lacs Lake is about 20 miles across.
