Gorman-Redlich CAP-to-EAS Decoder |
List Price is
$1350.00. We sell for $1210.00 plus shipping and tax where applicable. Add $6 for a 1 or 4 ft audio cable that goes between the CAP-to-EAS Decoder and any EAS Encoder-Decoder. Add $6 for a cable to link a Gorman EAS-1 (Firmware V 9.7 or later) to a Gorman CAP-to-EAS Decoder to get immediate EAS action from a CAP alert rather than waiting for the conversion of CAP, which is sent to the EAS system via its normal EAS input as soon as the CAP message is complete. |

The emergency alerting
experts at Gorman-Redlich have the answer in the form of the
Gorman-Redlich CAP-to-EAS Decoder unit, offered as a standalone unit
that will translate received CAP alerts into EAS headers, which will be
transmitted by your current EAS equipment the same as they already are.
|
||
| Note:
All EAS units will need to be updated with a new EPROM to look for and
accept CAP codes from the CAP to EAS converter. As of May,
2011, those codes have not been finalized by the government. No
EAS/CAP compliant units, by any manufacturer, will function as planned
until that firmware is in place. Installing a CAP to EAS decoder today is not a problem. Any required updates to the CAP to EAS decoder will be available on the Internet and can be accomplished by station personnel. What makes it easy is that the CAP to EAS decoder is a computer that is already on the Internet. Just plug in a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. |

Here are (l-r) Jim Gorman and Mark Persons at the 2010 Broadcasters Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. Jim is a friendly guy. He just naturally attracts visitors and customers. We make an interface panel to make it possible for one EAS unit to operate more than one radio
station. Standard or Deluxe
An
option to call into the unit by telephone and initiate an alert is $250.00.
AMBER is included in new units sold today. For existing units in the field, if the Gorman EAS-1 unit has a version number of 7.0 or above, then the AMBER upgrade will cost $100.00 plus one hour of installation time at the radio station. If there is no version number on the front panel display, then disconnect the power and then reconnect it. You have two seconds to see the version number displayed on boot-up. If the version number is below 7.0, then be prepared to pay about $150 plus shipping for a factory upgrade to AMBER.
