The Gilbert Lodge Project

May 17, 2004

A custom railing system, at Gilbert Lodge, is being installed on the deck and stairway leading to it.  The railings are square steel tubing.  After shop fabrication, they were powder-coat painted in an auto body shop.  The main sections were joined on site and then special touch-up paint was used on the welds.

The man responsible for this masterpiece is Jeremy Knipple.  He is one of the best master welders around and we were glad to hire him for this job.  He is a craftsman.

Architect Paul M. Hirst designed the railing.  It has the same cross-member features as the interior wood railings.  It is a Frank Lloyd Wright look.
